GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The human resource assistant will support the human resource department. The human resource assistant will assist with the lifecycle of an employee which include, hiring, during employment and exiting Public Citizen. It is the human resource department’s responsibility to ensure the employees at Public Citizen is working in a harmonious work environment and have the tools they need to do their job.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The human resource assistant will support the human resource department. The human resource assistant will assist with the lifecycle of an employee which include, hiring, during employment and exiting Public Citizen. It is the human resource department’s responsibility to ensure the employees at Public Citizen is working in a harmonious work environment and have the tools they need to do their job.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide administrative support for human resources, i.e. memos, letters, presentations, etc.
- Serve as the liaison for the human resource department and respond to policies, benefits, collective bargaining inquiries. Handle all inquiries with respect, confidentiality and timely.
- Assist with new employee paperwork and coordinate new employee orientations and onboarding.
- Complete employment verification, unemployment forms, and other request assigned.
- Track multiple projects using spreadsheets or word to keep track of projects.
- Organize and assist with employee social events, location, food, set up and clean up, etc.
- Maintain employee, vendor and administrative files, and keep databases updated.
- Maintain benefit paperwork by enrolling and terminating employees in the hr system.
- Assist with recruiting and hiring, by posting job announcements on various websites and attending job fairs.
- Always maintain confidentiality and represent the human resource department professionally.
- Assist with human resource projects, employee relations and other duties as assigned.
- Education: A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Experience: At least three years of performing administrative tasks, previous experience in an HR role is advantageous
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Strong communication skills, the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information, professional, have a positive attitude, team player, pay attention to detail, and multitasking skills are essential.
